How long should a clutch last?
Anywhere from around 60,000 to well over 100,000 miles, depending almost entirely on how the car is used. What does it mean if my clutch is slipping?
It means the friction plate can no longer hold against the flywheel under load, so the engine speeds up without the car doing the same. It shows first in the higher gears and uphill, where the load is greatest. Slipping never improves on its own, and continuing to drive on it generates heat that can damage the flywheel too.
Do I need a new dual-mass flywheel as well?
